Help me come up with a formula for distance between two points traveling clockwise!
Sorry the numbers are in the wrong orientation
The formula for calculating the distance between two points traveling in counter clockwise would be the absolute value of the difference between any two points and modding that value.
But what would be the distance formula for traveling clock-wise?
Hold on, A friend is coming to help.
Sorry, we don't need the mod for traveling counter clockwise, that was my mistake! The formula should just be the absolute value of the difference between any two points.
okay, thanks for the help!
"A friend" has arrived ;3
yay :D
There she is!
Any specific thing you need help with? ^0^
I need help figuring out the distance formula between any two points when its traveling clockwise
Alright, give me oneeeee moment :3 just looking over the past things said on the post.
What are the Answers?
^
I just so happen to be bad at telling time and just using the clock in general since I wasn't taught the right way, but I will do the best I can to help .w.
this is not a hw question, unfortunately, so i don't have the answers. :/
No, he means if there are any answer choices I believe C:
any ideas ? :(
What I am trying to say is, is this question multiple choice, or is it a written out question?
When traveling from 0 -> 5, the distance is 1 , but traveling from 0 - > 1, the distance is 5.
i made up this problem
I just want to know the formula for calculating the distance between any two points
One moment please, almost done.
What she said, XD.
thank you!
Hi, do you mind if I tag one of my other friends to assist you? I would hate to give you the wrong information since I am not an expert with clocks plus I am really bad at math. I would hate for you to not get any help..
this is not a clock problem.. really. But, may i ask if you understand the question?
@myininaya
Not at all x.x
Not really, No.
Even algebra equations is better than working with clock related problems in my opinion xD
Btw do you guys see the picture?
Yep, I do. c:
okay sweet, so lets say we are at point 0, and we would like to know the distance between 0 and 5.
since we are traveling clockwise, the distance is 1.
So, lets say i am at point 0 again, and we want to know the distance between 0 and 4. Since, we are traveling clockwise, the distance is 2.
It seems like you already know the answer to the question..o.e
Ok, but why would the distance be two if 0 to 5 is 1?
But i need to come up with a formula, that given any two points, I would get it's distance.
soggy, where did i say that?
Also, wouldn't the distance decrease in the amount if it was to a lower number?
"So, lets say i am at point 0 again, and we want to know the distance between 0 and 4. Since, we are traveling clockwise, the distance is 2."
well, you see thats the problem and the "hard part".
thats why i figured the counterclockwise so fast and easy, lol. it was super intuitive!
@jabez177 @jim_thompson5910
Have a nice night.
you too!
sorry we couldn't help you,:(
no worries, its a tough question!
If the points are equally spaced out and they are on a circle, and we knew the radius of the circle, then we could find the distance between any two consecutive points |dw:1462852850825:dw|
