OpenStudy (kashmoneyjr):

you basically complete the square a^2+2ab+b^2=(a+b)^2 you have a^2 and 2ab already, so you just have to add b^2 to both sides to get the answer

Directrix (directrix):

x^2 - 5x = 0 Take half of the coefficient of the x term. -5/2 Square it. 25/4 Add 25/4 to both sides of the equation. x^2 - 5x + 25/4 = 0 + 25/4 Write the left side of the equation as a square. ( x - 5/2)^2 = 25/4 Look at the options. Do you see one that looks like: ( x - 5/2)^2 = 25/4 @hippoharry
