OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

OpenStudy (erak):

C

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

Why is it C?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Any ideas @isuckatschool43

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

I'm not sure I'm new to irrational numbers.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

do you understand what irrational means?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

My mistake. I misread the problem. I though you needed a rational number. \[\sqrt(8)\] is irrational. Erak is correct.

OpenStudy (erak):

Nah I switched can and can't in my answer, it was incorrect anyways

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

An irrational number is a number that can't expressed as a ratio of integers, right

OpenStudy (triciaal):

correct

OpenStudy (isuckatschool43):

So what is the difference between a rational number and an irrational number? @triciaal

OpenStudy (erak):

Hm, I can try to explain it. An irrational number like\[\sqrt{8} \] Will come up as a decimal that never ends. Numbers like 0.8 with the line on top can be represented by the fraction 8/9.
