Which of the following is proper notation to describe the set of all letters in the alphabet? {a, b, c . . . z} (a, b, c, etc.) a through z

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

`{a, b, c . . . z}` is the best way because it is implied that each letter between c and z is also listed too. The curly braces indicate we have a set of items. In this case, a set of letters. `(a, b, c, etc.)` won't work because it's not clear how many letters you want or where you stop in the alphabet. Also, this isn't using curly braces that set notation needs `a through z` doesn't use curly braces, so this doesn't work either

OpenStudy (not_ordinary_nerd):

thankyou so much

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no problem
