OpenStudy (mallorysipp234):

is anyone in here able to help me with chemistry since theres no one active in the chemistry forum????

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

hello

OpenStudy (mallorysipp234):

Why is a martini (straight up, no ice) considered heterogeneous but a draft beer is homogeneous? @study.geek.123

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

What's in a martini?

OpenStudy (study.geek.123):

sorry im underage so I donno about all this

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Chances are we're all "underage" except @Kainui here, but that doesn't stop anyone from looking up the information...

OpenStudy (mallorysipp234):

i looked it up and it says it has two different types of alcohol in it. is that why it's considered?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

Can you link me to your source? The only safe-for-consumption alcohol I know if is ethyl alcohol (or grain alcohol or ethanol); all the others have a tendency to do bad things. Isopropyl (rubbing) gives severe gastrointestinal problems, while methanol in small doses makes you blind and in larger doses just kills you. Of course, ethanol kills you too, just a bit slower and over time ;)... Either way, consider the meaning of heterogeneous vs homogenous - mixtures of multiple types of alcohol tend to be miscible (entirely soluble in any proportion) and would still be considered a homogenous mixture.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

To give you a better hint perhaps, do you know the difference between a heterogeneous and homogeneous mixture? Do you know the difference in ingredients between a martini and a draft beer?
