Help please

zarkam21 (zarkam21):

OpenStudy (mjdennis):

What do you know so far?

zarkam21 (zarkam21):

Nothing thaats why I need help

OpenStudy (mjdennis):

I'm not some homework robot, handing out answers. Tell me what you know about parallelograms that might help you figure out Part I. That's a good place to start.

zarkam21 (zarkam21):

Well for the first part I think it is 'ccongruent'

OpenStudy (mjdennis):

That will get us started, yes. Opposite sides of this kind of figure are congruent. What is something that is true about two congruent line segments?

zarkam21 (zarkam21):

Umm They are equal to each other

OpenStudy (mjdennis):

Exactly! So, you see the two sides AB and CD are labeled with their lengths, correct? (But, to make our lives difficult, the lengths are labeled by expressions instead of "2 meters" or something useful.) And since you just told me the sides are equal to each other, you should be able to write an equation for Part II. With me so far?

zarkam21 (zarkam21):

Yes I am

zarkam21 (zarkam21):

Sorry I was doing something

OpenStudy (mjdennis):

I was also doing something. Show me your equation when you get back to this?

zarkam21 (zarkam21):

5x+2=8x-7

OpenStudy (mjdennis):

Exactly. Did you solve for 'x' ?

OpenStudy (mjdennis):

I figure you are on track now! Post here if you need some more help and I'll check back later today.

zarkam21 (zarkam21):

Well I did the equation and it isn't equal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x+2=8x-7 do you can solve it for x ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract from both sides 5x and will get 2 = 3x -7 now add to both sides 7 and will get 9 = 3x divide both sides by 3 and will get for x x=3 do you understand it now ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zarkam21 are you here please ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now just substitute the value of x in place of x and will get the length of side of paralellogramm - ok. ?

zarkam21 (zarkam21):

I am here

zarkam21 (zarkam21):

@jhonyy9 is the correct answer 9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no 5*3+2=17 8*3-7=17 17 is the length of these sides of parallelorgamm
