please help i will fan and medal !

OpenStudy (alphina):

Which set of steps shows the solution to the equation 3y = −9? y = −9 − 3; y = 6 y = −9 ÷ 3; y = −3 y = −9 ÷ (−3); y = 3 y = −9 − (−3); y = −6

OpenStudy (bmk614):

In order to get y by itself you need to divide off the 3. You would divide both sides by 3 giving you y=-9÷3=-3

OpenStudy (anthonyym):

You want to solve for y by isolating it by itself on one side of the equation, in other words, have y = something. There is a coefficient of 3 in front of y, so divide both sides by 3 to get y by itself (doing the same operation to both sides does not change the value of the equation, and 3 divided by 3 is 1, which gets rid of the 3). 3y = -9 y = -9 / 3

OpenStudy (alphina):

so b?

OpenStudy (alphina):

?

OpenStudy (anthonyym):

Yes, b is the correct answer

OpenStudy (alphina):

thanks :D
