On a separate piece of graph paper, graph y = -|x | + 3; then click on the graph until the correct one appears. https://wca.sooschools.com/media/g_alg01_ccss_2015/3/absvalue24.gif https://wca.sooschools.com/media/g_alg01_ccss_2015/3/absvalue21.gif https://wca.sooschools.com/media/g_alg01_ccss_2015/3/absvalue15.gif

@Atsie

Atsie (atsie):

I'm trying to understand this myself, so hang on @Ubie01 :)

Atsie (atsie):

@welshfella is really really great at math, and he seems to be typing something so I'm going to leave this to him @Ubie01 . I'm sorry about that, but I just don't feel confident in my skills for this one. Maybe I'll be able to help with something else at another time. :) I hope you enjoy OpenStudy though, and if you need anything feel free to message me. I'll fan ya! ^.^

OpenStudy (welshfella):

first draw the graph of y = -x + 3 for negative value of x values of y will be positive with this graph but the |x| means that the |x| will always be positive and - |X| will alwyas be negative so -|x! + 3 will be negatives for all values of x > 3 so the graph will be a refection of y = -x + 3 in the line y = 3

OpenStudy (welshfella):

the above is the graph of y = -x + 3 ( the slope is -1 and y intercept is at 3) x -intercept at 3

OpenStudy (welshfella):

* correction - only the negative side of the graph is reflected in y = 3
