In a hospital ward, there are 10 nurses and 6 doctors. 4 of the nurses and 3 of the doctors are male. If a person is randomly selected from this group, what is the probability that the person is female or a doctor?
So 10 nurses + 6 doctors = 16 right?
4 nurses are male, and 3 doctors are male. That's 7 males.
So 7 out of 16 are male, meaning 9 are female.
did you went to onlin virtual academy school?
No, I go to Connections Academy.
im doing the 09.09 module pretest
Anyway, here is what we know now. 7 are male, 9 are female, and 6 are doctors.
Since 3 of the doctors are female, we don't want to double count them. Let's just say there are 9 female and 3 doctors. Since it's asking if its a female OR a doctor.
I try googling this questions but the links wont work, dont know if they took it down
So that would give us 12/16 is the answer.
We can simplify 12/16 to 3/4. So if it ask you to simplify the answer, 3/4 is the correct answer. If not, the answer is 12/16.
Formula for this is P(female or doctor) = P(female) + P(doctor) - P(female and doctor)
these is the answer choices 3/16 6/16 12/16 9/16
If you read everything I posted, I explained how to get the answer. The correct answer is 12/16.
thanks
