Discuss the types of characters present in Gothic works. How do these character types contribute to the mood and essential meaning or theme of the work? Provide examples to support your explanation. Your paragraph should be at least six sentences.
Gothic is probably what you'd guess it'd be: dark and moody and forboding http://www.enotes.com/topics/gothic-movement it also has elements of irrationality and chaos. It doesn't always have to be about death or horrible injuries. They also mention "ruin" which I'm assuming means "financial or social or relationship ruin". So basically anything bad you can think of, Gothic has you covered
Contrast this with Romantic literature works where everything is light, happy, rosy, lovey, etc I'm assuming Gothic developed after Romantic https://www.mtholyoke.edu/courses/rschwart/hist255/jkr/romanticism.html but I'm not sure about that
6 sentences? Gosh they just want me dead.
Lemme write it out. Tell me if it sounds good or if it needs changes.
Like I said I'm not that great with English so I'm not 100% sure about the Romantic literature part. It does sound like it would be something polar opposite of Gothic literature.
The characters in Gothic work usually have very foreboding, mysterious personalities. Most of the characters are dark and moody. They always seem to be hiding something. The characters add suspense to the film or book. Not knowing what will come next is why the audience love it. The characters give scary thrills, which keep the audience coming for more. All the chaos, terror, and gore add to the quality of the film.
Apart from 2 typos, it looks good
Did the teacher want you to talk about films too? or just literature?
Lol thanks if i had to typos my teacher would literally knock off half my grade and yes both.
two* *face palm*
I'd get a second opinion from a person more experienced with literature and writing
Thanks anyways.
