Does anyone know any good websites I can use to learn to read music?
Youtube is what I suggest. It's free, and there's so many different people teaching, you can find who suits you. Here's a random beginner video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsnR9AoSPTA
@chaotic_butterflies thanks :) I like to write lyrics and I love to sing but I would love to learn an instrument as well and I'm going to take music lessons this summer but I would still like to try and educate myself a little.
After learning how to read music, I suggest you to look into major scales and how to make it.It's a very valuable skill that musicians should possess. I also recommend learning the piano over guitar as it can help you develop your vocals and your knowledge in music
Found an interesting website that help you read music: http://readsheetmusic.info/basics_of_counting_rhythms.shtml Here is something more basic: http://www.musicnotes.com/blog/2014/04/11/how-to-read-sheet-music/ http://makingmusicfun.net/htm/f_mmf_music_library/how-to-read-music-beginners.htm and here is a list of other websites you can visit to learn to read music: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/10-online-resources-learn-read-music/ I would recommend checking out the book "Music Theory for Dummies" it is a very good self help book and it gets to the point quickly and easily. However, if for any reason you cannot go to the library then check out these websites I provided.
I know that this is an app rather than a website, but the app "Music Pal" allows you to scan the sheet music using your phone or iPod, and then you can hear the music back. It's not the best way but I hope it helps. :)
