MEDAL + FAN FOR ANSWER What is the slope of line m? A. 0.5 B. –0.5 C. –2 D. 2
@jhonyy9
@Jakesaurus1127
you can find the slope based on the two points. Do you know any methods that use points?
no
that's ok! Do you know what the slope represents (i.e. how it relates X to Y)?
not really im not real good at this kinda stuff :[
@wilsondanielle
that's ok! So the slope of a line gives the main relation between the change in X and Y, and actually represents the change in Y divided by the change in X. For example, if the equation was y=2x, you could rewrite it as y=2/1x. That means that every time x changes by a value of 1, y changes by 2. Can you see how this could be done with two points?
yea
walk me through what you do. I'll confirm your answer, or help you if you get stuck/make a mistake.
would the answer be d
since it changes by 2
the change in Y is equal to (6-0) = 6 the change in X is equal to (0--3) = 3 slope is equal to Y/X = 6/3 = 2, which is D.
oohhh.. ok thank you for you help :)
always make sure you keep the same point as point 1 and point 2 - you get different answers (in this case, it would have been negative) if you can't keep them straight. You're welcome!
