In the figure below, point A is the center of square SQRE. 2. What is the image of E for a 90 rotation about A?http://www.intervisualtechnology.us/data/1/9020/apply_9_3.png

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

e moves to S, s to q, q to r and r to e again.

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

because a behave just like origin.

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

that's what i did is that correct?

OpenStudy (stacey):

Draw a square and cut it out. Then put a pin in the middle and rotate the square clockwise one quarter turn. You should see that the E lands where the S was, so the image of E will be S.

OpenStudy (stacey):

Yes.

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

thank can you help me on the next one

OpenStudy (stacey):

Sure. Do the same thing, but rotate the square halfway around.

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

so it will be SE

OpenStudy (stacey):

Yes

OpenStudy (stacey):

Do you have an idea of how to go about doing number 4?

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

no i dont

OpenStudy (stacey):

If you rotate it 30 degrees, the figure will be crooked and not match up with anything, but if you continue another 240 degrees, they will. So how many degrees will it rotate in all after the 30 degrees and then the 240 degrees?

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

270

OpenStudy (stacey):

Okay. 90 degrees was a quarter turn. 180 is halfway around. How far is 270?

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

it is 3 triangle of the square

OpenStudy (stacey):

Very good. 3/4 of a circle.

OpenStudy (stacey):

So where will S land after turning that square 3/4 of the way around?

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

E

OpenStudy (stacey):

Great! You have done well with the exercise!

OpenStudy (ellamoyseyuk):

thank you so much :)

OpenStudy (stacey):

You're very welcome!
