What is the contrapositive of x+3=5, then x=2
@Will.H
wait
yes it is C the contrapositive because we have to negative the statements and change the order :)
make sense?
sorry was making a phone call... my power is out
its fine, hope that helps :)
@devonhoward15 What @will.H posted is perfectly valid. If you're still not sure, here's a more detailed explanation with an example. A typical proposition with conditional is if \(hypothesis\) then \(conclusion\). The contrapositive of the above statement is If \(not~conclusion\) then \(not~hypothesis\). A proposition and its contrapositive are logically equivalent. Example: For the proposition "If it rains, then I bring an unbrella". the contrapositive is: "IF I do not bring an umbrella, then it does not rain".
so i need to contact my teacher?
nooo, i took that back tho, the Answer is C because the contrapositive is changing the order of the statements and negative the sentences. that's all
Well, if you still have difficulties with the examples, perhaps it's a good idea to let your teacher explain to you. If you want to read up beforehand, you could try the following link: http://www.regentsprep.org/regents/math/geometry/gp2/lcontrap.htm
