Help please? http://prntscr.com/bar9gd I think it's B

OpenStudy (suenahelpz):

;m; Incorrect. So, what do we already know about gerunds? (Don't use Gewgleeee)

MsBrains (ms-brains):

I won't xDDD It's a noun from a verb by adding 'ing'. :3

OpenStudy (suenahelpz):

Correct. So, we know that nouns are the names of a person, place, or thing. And we also know a verb is a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence. So, if a gerund is a noun made from a verb, we know that this is going to be an action, state, or occurence that we could just add "ing" to the end of it and it is now classified as a gerund. Let's try doing that. Let's say we want to make a gerund with the action word as 'knock', what do we do to knock to make it a gerund and what is the word we end up with after?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

knocking?

OpenStudy (suenahelpz):

Correct! One more. Let's say we have the word "run" what is the word we have after we make it a gerund?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Running! So my answer would be Farming?

OpenStudy (suenahelpz):

Correct!! ^w^

OpenStudy (suenahelpz):

It is a noun made from a verb by just adding "ing" to it. :3

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Woohoo! x3

OpenStudy (suenahelpz):

And when you guessed "back-breaking" if we take the "ing" away, it would be "back-break" but that is not an action, state, or occurrence. :3 So, that is why your guess was incorrect. ^-^

MsBrains (ms-brains):

^o^)~~** Tank yew bbg

OpenStudy (suenahelpz):
