OpenStudy (durwood):

∠A and ∠C are right angles. m∠p = degrees.

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

do you have drawen for ?

OpenStudy (durwood):

did it show up? sorry this is my first time posting on here

OpenStudy (durwood):

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so than you see triangle DAB is a right triangle - yes ? you know the length of two sides so using pythagora"s theorem you can calculi easy the length of hypotenuse - do you know it how ?

OpenStudy (durwood):

not really, this stuff really confuses me. I know a right angle is 90

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

DB^2 = 5^2 +6^2 DB^2 =25+36 DB^2 =61 DB = sqrt61 = 7,8

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so now that you know the length of hypotenuse you can using to get the value of angle P sp what trigonometric function ? do you know what law of trigonometric function say that is equal adjacent side divide hypotenuse ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sin cos tan cot what from these ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

you learned about these ?

OpenStudy (durwood):

yes, the hypotenuse is the opposite correct? so that would be sin?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

how you see than use sinP = opposite divide hypotenuse do you know the opposite side length ? bc. i think that you dont know it so you need using one trigom. function whit law what say adjacent side divide hypotenuse do you know it what has this law ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

opposite side to angle P is side BC but you dont know the length of side BC - yes ?

OpenStudy (durwood):

no, I'm sorry. I am completely lost now

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so do you know that the law of sinuse trigom. function say sinP equal opposite side divide hypotenuse but you dont know the length of opposite side so you need using one trigonometric function whath law say that adjacent side divide hypotenuse than sinuse not is right so what will be correct ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

you dont know it ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ok. so the cosin law say cos P = adjacent side divide hypotenuse can you write it now what will get ?

OpenStudy (durwood):

Sorry, I was going through my notes trying to figure out the difference of them.

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ok. so cos P = ?

OpenStudy (durwood):

that formula is a^2=b^2+c^2?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

no this is pythagora's theorem formula so you need using now the cosin law cos P = adjacent side divide hypotenuse cos P = 4/7,8 cos P = 0,51 p = arccos 0,5 p = 60°

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so from this result that angle P has a measure of 60 degree ok. ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

was my pleasure good luck bye bye

OpenStudy (durwood):

and you got the 4 because it is the opposite right? I may understand a little bit now.

OpenStudy (durwood):

Thank you so very much!

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

the dide with length 4 not is oposite to angle P is adjacent side of angle P - looke on the posted image please

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

the side with length 4 sorry

OpenStudy (durwood):

That makes more sense then then what my teacher was showing us! Thank you

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ok. np. was my pleasure and anytime just tag me bye bye
