Can i get an answer for this?

OpenStudy (trinibutera):

FOR?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

none are functions, but one is linear the one with the \(x\) in the numerator with no exponent

OpenStudy (welshfella):

a linear function will have no powers of x and /or y of 2 or above ( like x^ and/or y^2) nor x or y in a denominator of a fraction.

OpenStudy (misty1212):

all of them are equations, none of them are functions

OpenStudy (welshfella):

can you identify a linear equation then?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

it will contain an x and a y but neither must be in a denominator.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Actually, ALL of these are functions. Only one is a linear function. Yes, the linear function is the 4th one, and the reasons for that are: 1) both x and y are in the first power, and 2) neither x nor y appears in a denominator. The graph of this 4th function is a straight line, whereas the graphs of the others are not; the graph of y=x^2 is a parabola, for example.
