Help Please!

OpenStudy (zyberg):

Notice that those triangles, that you get in the square corners have equal sides and that it would be equal to half the length of a square.

OpenStudy (sufferingfrominsomnia):

Right

OpenStudy (zyberg):

What would be your attempt on solving it?

OpenStudy (sufferingfrominsomnia):

I would attempt to multiply the Expression for the side given by itself to find the area, but how would I do that?

OpenStudy (zyberg):

Well, as I understand the problem, you need to find the area of those 4 triangles at the corners of the square (tell me if I got it wrong). In that case, you notice that there are 4 equal triangles. You can add them up to a rectangle! One side of it would be of length of the initial square and the other side would be half that. Multiply them and you will get the answer ;)

OpenStudy (sufferingfrominsomnia):

Well, I would need help to figure out the process to multiply them because that is what I'm having trouble with.
