The graph below shows the total cost of an internet subscription, C, as it relates to the number of internet hours used, h. https://lcboe.owschools.com/media/o_anageo_ccss_2015/8/img_alg1u03l06_13.gif How much does the company charge per hour?
slope
OK so TBH i'm trying to complete my math course in just one day. I am learning this super fast. How do I calculate with slope to get the answer?
\(\sf slope = \dfrac{difference~in~y}{difference~in ~x} \) Find two points on the graph that are easy to read. Subtract the y-coordinates of the two points. Subtract the x-coordinates of the two points in the same order. Divide the first difference by the second difference. That is the slope.
Example: |dw:1465139431969:dw| Point A: (3, 8) Point B: (7, 12) Difference in y: 12 - 8 = 4 Difference in x (in the same order): 7 - 3 = 4 \(slope = \dfrac{4}{4} = 1\)
But the graph i uploaded has no points?
Yes, it has. You have a scale along the x-axis, and a scale along the y-axis. Choose any two points on the blue line that are on grid intersections and are easy to read.
So 27 minus 13? Would the answer be $14 an hour then?
Where did you get 27 and 13?
Each grid space in x is 1 units. Each grid space in y is 5 units.
the line starts at 27 and ends at 13
