OpenStudy (kikuo):

"RAM is volatile." -- False, it's implementation specific. There is no volatility attribute attached to RAM. It's semiconductor memory such as DRAM that is in common use for RAM which is volatile. Older computers used ferrite core for RAM, and it is non-volatile. A guy said this, and I was wondering if anyone could refute or reinforce what he said since I was taught RAM is volatile

OpenStudy (nox99):

He is talking about other things. It's volatile because when computer turn off ram is erased. Volatile not means about construction is about persistence.

OpenStudy (kikuo):

Isn't he saying RAM isn't volatile? Because I was taught it was. Can you elaborate? @nox99
