Trying to check to see if my homework is right But getting answers are extremely slow coming from my teacher. If it is snowing in Dallas, Texas, then it is snowing in the United States. The statement is false. A counterexample may be “It is snowing in Dallas, Texas, but it is Not snowing in San Francisco California ”.
Not sure what oyur question is but The statement is true
Here is the question Is the following conditional true or false? If it is true, explain why. If it is false, give a counterexample. If it is snowing in Dallas, Texas, then it is snowing in the United States.
Here was my answer The statement is false. A counterexample may be “It is snowing in Dallas, Texas, but it is Not snowing in San Francisco California ”
MrNood is correct. The statement "If it is snowing in Dallas, Texas then it is snowing in the United States" is a true statement because Dallas, Texas is in the United States. Are you studying sets or logic?
If it snows *anywhere* in the US, you can say it snowed in the US. Dallas is in the US.
Is it right?
3 people have told oyu that your answer is not correct
@AshtarothFick your answer was wrong. Reread the explanations.
Okay thanks
well the statement is true. Because your answer belongs to a larger set. For example. if they said, It is snowing in USA, therefore it is snowing on Earth, this would be right as USA is definitively part of earth. The converse does not hold. If it is snowing on earth, does not necessarily mean it is snowing in USA
"It snowed in the US" does NOT mean "It snowed everywhere in the US" Exactly why is hard to explain... one of those "it's so obvious, it needs no explanation" (except if you do need an explanation)
Okay thanks for all of you'll help.
