PLEASE HELP ME!!

OpenStudy (peachpi):

\[a_n=a_1+d(n-1)\] where \(a_1\) is the first term (number of seats in first section) d = number of seats added for each section

OpenStudy (lindseyhope123):

what is n?

OpenStudy (peachpi):

n is the term number. It stays n for the general equation, but when you want to find the seats is a particular section, you'd substitute for it. For example when you want to find the seats in section 20, plug in 20 for n.

OpenStudy (lindseyhope123):

oh okay thank you!

OpenStudy (peachpi):

you're welcome

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

In this case, you won't plug any value in for n. You'll leave it alone so for instance, say you had 5+3(n-1), that would simplify to... 5+3(n-1) 5+3n-3 5-3+3n 2+3n 3n+2 This is just an example of course. It's not the final answer
