Hey a bit of technical help? I'm using a ti84 graphing calculator and when i graph stuff the lines don't touch/intercept even though they are supposed to? Like there's a noticeable gap between the lines.
graphs i plotted
when i zoom in some parts overlap?!
When I plot these with geogebra, I get the the attached.
on graphing calculator or some other thing? yeah because when i plot them on desmos it works but not on my calculator? it doesn't really make sense
some other thing.
ack :(
thanks anyways
what do you mean touch intercept?
on demos i plot two graphs. The 2 graphs clearly intercept or touch like in the attached photo (which has been zoomed in). But on my calculator there's a noticeable gap between them. the same problem occurs if i try plotting stuff like sqrt(x2+7^2). The line should touch the x axis but it doesn't?
I attempted to recreate the graph. Is this correct? https://www.desmos.com/calculator/rjxqizf76x
So you want a continuous graph?
yup. it's perfectly fine on desmos. but not on my calculator. is it some setting?
You need the limits of the endpoints to match On the left side I got https://www.desmos.com/calculator/tkhxgatc3a
no sorry to clarify. Everything looks fine on desmos. But not my graphing calculator (ti-84) here's what the first and 2nd equation look like on my calc
I fixed the graph so that it is continuous, no overlap or sticking out area, Try to zoom in https://www.desmos.com/calculator/filstynedc
oops sorry for multiply replys
See if that piece-wise function corrects the gap.
nope :(
How do you graph a piecewise function on a TI-84 calculator. I would like to try to replicate this.
but even for graphs like sqrt(x) or something it doesn't touch the x axis though it should
what do u mean?
I own a TI 84 calculator, I can't graph piecewise functions like on desmos.com
I graphed sqrt(x) and it touches the x axis.
I modified the window. Now I see the gap :-)
Use y = sqrt(x - .04) , xmin = -1 xmax = 1 ymin = -0.5 ymax = 0.5 there is a noticeable gap now
That has to do with the limitations of the calculator, how it graphs.
gah sorry the wifi is really slow here
like this. mine doesn't touch the axis? i even reset it
i gtg ill be back later (thanks by the way) :D
but logically it should touch the axis or the other graphs since they intercept/touch
I agree.
i guess my best bet is just to move everything according to what i see unless anyone happens to have any other suggestions?
also thanks guys for helping :D
