I had to find x
OpenStudy (natasha18):
and roundto the nearest tenth
OpenStudy (natasha18):
my second answer i got was 11.04
OpenStudy (natasha18):

i dont wanna submit it until i know
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
sin 34 = opp/hypo
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
0.559 = 12/x
x = 12/0.559
OpenStudy (natasha18):
oooh ok so 21.5
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
looks good.

OpenStudy (natasha18):
solving for x i got 41.4 degs
OpenStudy (natasha18):
but i i think i know what ive been doing wRong
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
What x do you need?
tan x
cos x or sin x?
OpenStudy (natasha18):
well i use sin bc we have the opp and hypo

OpenStudy (natasha18):
wait i got .7222... am i supposed to do inverse sin?
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
Yes 0.722 is correct.
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
So we know
sin x = 0.722
therefore x = ?
OpenStudy (natasha18):
i got 41.4
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
I got x = 46....

wait it woul be 46.2
OpenStudy (natasha18):
yeah ok
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
yes 46.2 should be good..
OpenStudy (natasha18):
how do you know when to use inverse???
OpenStudy (natasha18):
that confuses me

\[\sin \theta = x\]
\[\theta = \sin^{-1} x\]
OpenStudy (natasha18):
where does the theta come in... i dont really understand that part
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
So say
\[\sin 30 = \frac{ 1 }{ 2 }\]
\[\theta = \sin^{-1} \frac{ 1 }{ 2 }\]
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
so theta = 30
OpenStudy (natasha18):
why does theta equal 30?

ooooh ok nvm i see it
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
because sin 30 = 1/2
OpenStudy (natasha18):
itwas an example haha
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
Yes.
That was an example.

OpenStudy (natasha18):
i got 61.4
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
Find hypo first.
OpenStudy (natasha18):
how do i do that?
OpenStudy (natasha18):
i set it up like tanX = 15/14
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
Hypo = 15^2 + 14^2
then we take the square root of that answer.

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
tan x = 15/14 is also good
OpenStudy (natasha18):
oooh duh pythagorean theorem lol
OpenStudy (natasha18):
soo do i need to find hypotenuse? or can i solve the problem w/o it?
OpenStudy (aaronandyson):
You can use tan X TO find it..
OpenStudy (natasha18):
ooooh

OpenStudy (natasha18):
i got cosX = .8
OpenStudy (natasha18):
then i got 36.9 by arccos
OpenStudy (natasha18):
is that right?
