OpenStudy (abbles):

State the zeros for each polynomial function.

OpenStudy (abbles):

For the zeros, I got 0 and 2. What I'm having trouble with is the second part of the question. "State the multiplicity of any roots if the multiplicity is 2 or higher." How can I tell if there is a multiplicity? Is there any way to tell solely from looking at the graph alone?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Ahh great question, yessss there is a way :)

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Do you remember what an `even polynomial` looks like? Let's take y=x^2 for example|dw:1466465415328:dw|at the origin, it sort of... "bounces" off, ya? turns around in a nice clean way.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

how bout an odd polynomial? let's take y=x^3 as an example|dw:1466465502406:dw|it cuts through the origin, but not in the same way a straight line does, more curvy right?
