Universal set problem help

OpenStudy (pphalke):

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

A U B is all of the elements in set A and in set B

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

\[A \cap B \] is what elements do set A and set B have in common B' means what's NOT in set B

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

9a A U B is all of the elements in set A and set B, so what are they?

OpenStudy (pphalke):

{1,2,3,4,5}

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

yes that A U B [1,2,3,4,5}

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

ugh I messed up on the last one \[A' \cap B \] which means what elements do NOT in set A and set B have in common second one is don't consider elements in B

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

second one B' means elements NOT in B The number 3 is in A and B so we can remove that. there should be only 2 numbers left

OpenStudy (pphalke):

{1,5,6}

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

I think this is only concerning sets A and B... so there should be just 1 and 5. Then again, it has been a while since I've done this. @zarkon what do you think? is B' = 1,5 or B'=1,5,6

OpenStudy (zarkon):

B'={1,5,6}

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

ah I see it's the whole universe. U = 1 2 3 4 5 6 that's involved B = 2,3,4 NOT B would be 1 5 6

OpenStudy (pphalke):

I got that too

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

<--- this is what happens when you don't practice for a while. brain slush XD

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

\[A' \cap B\] U = 1,2,3,4,5,6 set A = 1,3,5 set B = 2,3,4 so not A would be all even numbers set A' = 2,4,6 what does A' =2 4 6 B = 2 3 4 have in common?
