OpenStudy (rolandba):

which language is better to programming on the web? php or python?

OpenStudy (dndreamer):

Python . But php is the easiest one . If you are beginner then go for php at first then learn Python @rolandba

OpenStudy (rsmith6559):

Python was conceived as an Object Oriented, Rapid Application Development, general purpose programming language. PHP (Personal Home Page) was conceived as a way to embed data into web pages. Both are very popular and have extensive libraries. As far as jobs go, once you get out of web programming, I haven't seen any/many for PHP. Python seems to be far hotter.

OpenStudy (thebitman_bite):

I would say go with Python because :- 1. Has a simple syntax and easily readable. 2. Python's architecture has been designed extremely well for a programming language. 3. Also on server -side PHP is being replaced by more dynamic JavaScript( check meteor.js) 4. The Django framework provided by Python is better than the PHP frameworks. 5. Package Management and debugging better in Python. 6. Evented Codebases better in Python and node.js

OpenStudy (austinl):

As a .NET developer who works primarily with C# I would say learn C# and the .NET framework. Microsoft has made a lot of new advances and decisions that are for the benefit of developers. Using .NET you will also be able to use your skills elsewhere in the future if you choose. Microsoft has two major web platforms right now. ASP.NET 4.6 and ASP.NET Core. The first one is based on older technology, but is still better than php in my opinion. However .NET Core is the new generation on technology and application design. It uses very little overhead because it is extremely modular and can be run on any OS including Linux and OSX. In addition Microsoft also provides a lot of free resources including the best IDE (development environment) in the industry, and a lot of free resources and training. Even if you use Python or PHP, you will still get use from Dev Essentials. This even includes Azure Credits for one year to host anything you like. In addition it includes a three month PluralSight subscription which can even be used to learn PHP and Python: https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/products/visual-studio-dev-essentials-vs.aspx Another resource is the Microsoft Virtual Academy. They offer an impressive library of free training to help you learn faster. Also they have free ebooks: https://mva.microsoft.com/

rvc (rvc):

i agree with @TheBitman_Bite but all suggestions are good

OpenStudy (polymorphism):

I say pick one and learn it and then learn the other one afterwards... Also, .NET and C# is awesome. I love asp.net C# MVC but I love Django maybe a little more but it is a close call.
