Very confused..

This means that you need to find the value of f(g(3)) and the value of g(f(-2)) You can do this one of two ways. First you can substitute the equation for g into f then substitute 3. It would look like this: 2(x+1)-3= f(g(x)) 2x+2-3 = f(g(x)) 2x-1 f(g(x)) Then substitute 3. 2(3)-1= 6-1= 5 OR You can substitute 3 into g and then substitute the value of g into f. That would look like this: g(3) = 1(3) + 1 g(3) = 3+1 g(3) = 4 Then substitute the value of g(3) into f(x) or f(g(3)) f(g(3)) = 2(4)-3 f(g(3)) = 8-3 f(g(3)) = 5 Any questions?

OpenStudy (supernova_sonntag):

Nope. Thank you for the concise directions! That really helped.

Glad to be of assistance. :D
