Write functions for the following transformations using function notation. Choose a different letter to represent each function. For example, you can use R to represent rotations. Assume that a positive rotation occurs in the counterclockwise direction. help?

This is like the summary of what your teacher taught! If you had taken notes during class, they would be the answers to these questions! lol I will give these transformations in the usual notations which you can look up from your notes (on paper or on screen). \(T(a,b): (x,y)->(x+a,y+b)\) \(r_y: (x,y)->(-x,y)\) \(r_x: (x,y)->(x,-y)\) \(r_{y=x}: (x,y)->(y,x)\) \(R_{90}:(x,y)->(-y,x)\) \(R_{180}:(x,y)->(-x,-y)\) \(R_{270}:(x,y)->(y,-x)\) Some identities: \(R_{90}\circ R_{90} = R_{180}\) \(R_{90}\circ R_{180} = R_{270}\) \(r_x\circ r_y=r_y\circ r_x=R_{180}\) \(r_y\circ R_{90}=r_{y=x}\)

OpenStudy (cashgirl1369):

my teacher doesnt teach

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Your statement is a contradiction! lol

OpenStudy (cashgirl1369):

its not he doesnt teach everything is online and i cant learn like this

OpenStudy (mathmate):

It's unfortunate because not everyone learns well online, myself included. If that's the case, you may consider switching to a brick-and-mortar school, if possible.

OpenStudy (cashgirl1369):

its a summer school so i can finish my math classes early

OpenStudy (cashgirl1369):

@mathmate would you mind helping me with this too

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Sure, but I would like you to try it first and tell me what you found.

OpenStudy (cashgirl1369):

i dont know what to dow ive been trying to all night

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Tell me what you tried!

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Sorry that I have to go, that gives you more time to make more tries or show your attempts. Perhaps others can help you too, like @agent0smith , @mathstudent55 , @mathmale, ...

OpenStudy (cashgirl1369):

i tried to figure out what their asking for and i tried to try to write something and i cant do it i dont understand how

OpenStudy (mathmate):

You are expected to give a chain of operations, separated by the / sign. In the example, the operations are operated from left to right. So if someone wants to translate (3,2) and then rotate 90 degrees you would write (using your school's notation) <3,2>/(90,O) (x,y)=(-y-3,x+2)

OpenStudy (cashgirl1369):

whats a notation
