OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Hi :) Need help?

OpenStudy (itzz_wild):

yes please

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Well, what's the question (and leave it open this time so others can help)

OpenStudy (itzz_wild):

yes ma'am

OpenStudy (itzz_wild):

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

A difference of two squares is a binomial (two terms, one with an x variable and one regular ol' coefficient) expression. It is finding the difference of one squared number and another squared number ax^2 - b a is a square b is a square In order find if it's a difference of two squares, find out if A and B are squares, by finding their square roots.

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

In the first one; Is 14 a square number? Is 81 a square number? Is it addition or subtraction? Is the exponent ^2? In the second one; Is 16 a square number? Is 81 a square number? Is it addition or subtraction? Is the exponent ^2? In the third one; Is 25 a square number? Is 81 a square number? Is it addition or subtraction? Is the exponent ^2? In the fourth one; Is 36 a square number? Is 81 a square number? Is it addition or subtraction? Is the exponent ^2?

OpenStudy (itzz_wild):

nvm...

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Did I scare you with all of the questions? They're all yes or no questions, I swear

OpenStudy (itzz_wild):

too hard

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

No, it just looks like it :) Let's start with the first equation :) 14x^2 - 81 In the first one; Is 14 a square number? Is 81 a square number? Is it addition or subtraction? Is the exponent ^2?

OpenStudy (itzz_wild):

my phones dead i cant use siri my charger broke

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

why do you need siri?

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Okay, we'll take this step by step. A square number is a number that can be divided by one number and also equal that number. \[a \times a = a^2\] \[a^2 = squared number\]

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

So, 14 cannot be a square. Nothing multiplied by itself equals 14. Meaning, this one can not be a difference of two squares, because there's only one square (81). Don't get upset, it's okay :) You can always ask for help on whatever you're confused about

OpenStudy (itzz_wild):

14 isnt a choice tho

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

The 14 comes from the 14x^2 Sorry, I should have explained that :)

OpenStudy (itzz_wild):

so a

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

No, I said we can count that one out :/

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

Look back through my replies

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

@mathstudent55 How do I do this in a way less complicated way? You seem intelligent on giving short and to-the-point answers without giving the answer away

OpenStudy (itzz_wild):

just forget about it thanks for trying

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

You sure...? :/ I'd really like to help

OpenStudy (itzz_wild):

i dont have time for this
