Teach me functions.
I have this question solved, I just want to make sure I can do other functions. Y = -|2x| =3
absolute value
There are two equal signs?
That's what the teacher showed, I don't really understand it.
Wait no. Don't count the first one. The problem is -|2x| = 3
Basically If |x| = a then x = a, and x = -a
You would first start by dividing both sides by -1 and then doing what I said above. :)
And then what? How do I know I have the right answer?
you can plug it in :) any negative number inside of | | becomes positive for example |-5| = 5 all positive numbers remain positive so |5| = 5
So then what does the =3 have to do with my problem? -|2x| = 3
Does that make the answer to "-|2x| = 3" 2?
No, it is an equation For example -|3x| = -6 |3x| = 6 3x = 6 and 3x = -6 x = 2 and x = -2 BUT remember that the absolute value of something cannot equal a negative number. If you have a question like that, it means there is no solution
