thats is the question im dealing with @sweetburger
@KendrickLamar2014 @TheSmartOne @KendrickLamar2014
hello, im cinfused as to what these kinda words/ things mean :)
Question: Do you know what whole, irrational, natural, real, rational numbers and integers are?
not really man :/ thats what id love to know
:(
Hey, Welcome to OpenStudy! :)
The set of whole numbers is our basic counting numbers. Any "whole value" larger than 0 is considered a whole number. Whole numbers = \(\large\rm \{1,2,3,4,5,...\}\)
The natural numbers are almost exactly the same thing, but we include 0 as a natural number. Natural numbers = \(\large\rm \{0,1,2,3,4,...\}\)
So is it clear that -12 is neither a whole number nor a natural number?
oh i see :O
Oh it looks like you've got the correct sets chosen. Rational numbers are numbers which can be written in the form of a fraction between two integers. Examples of rational numbers:\[\large\rm \frac34,\qquad\frac12,\qquad\frac27\]Number over a number. Here is another rational number even though you might not realize it at first,\[\large\rm 8\]We can take any value and write it over the number 1.\[\large\rm 8=\frac81\]This shows that 8 is a rational number, it can be written in rational form.
How bout the number 0, any ideas? Rational or not? :)
i actually had that question and chose Rational, Real, Intiger, and whole number :)
but thanks allot man its legit making sense now, so would this be correct?
I think maybe I have my sets backwards.. whole and natural.. woops D: Hard to keep these straight sometimes.
oh no no its ok :D
ya ya ya wholes include 0, woops. Answers for what? 0?
no for -12
Real... yes Integer... yes Rational... yes -12 = -12/1 A number can not be both `rational` and `irrational` at the same time.
LOL my b
so the answer would be real numbers rational numbers integers
yay good job
!!!!!! thank you :)
