OpenStudy (anabelleb):

In the Battle of Fort Sumter, the only casualty was a Confederate officers' horse. What was the name of the horse?

OpenStudy (dylan_tang):

Is there any choices?

OpenStudy (anabelleb):

No

Awolflover1 (awolflover1):

Do you have any ideas of what name?

OpenStudy (brainzonly):

the horse was killed on Morris Island. don't know the name, but the horse wasn't the only casualty. your q fails to mention the other 4 MEN that were killed :-)

OpenStudy (anabelleb):

The other four men weren't killed during the battle. They died the next day after the battle ended during a 100-gun salute. I know that the horse was killed on Morris Island and belonged to a Confederate officer but I would like to know the name of the horse.

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

If you know you're assertions to be fact, you have sources. What are your sources? What other sources can you check?

OpenStudy (anabelleb):

Most of my information comes from school but the rest is from History.com. I've checked many other websites but I haven't had any luck.

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

Is this for an assignment?

OpenStudy (brainzonly):

try wikipedia

OpenStudy (anabelleb):

This isn't for an assignment. I've already checked Wikipedia but I didn't find anything on the name of the horse.

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

So, it's just curiosity. That's good. You might not be able to get that information. I could be lost to history. Nobody wrote it down or something. But it may be written some where. That's why historians use primary sources, like journals, letters, registration papers and such. If this is something you really want to know, you'll spend the time looking. Then, you may have enough information to write a book, or a wikipedia article.

OpenStudy (lposton):

Hi

OpenStudy (zvanstanley):

According to http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/fort-sumter-surrenders, one person did die afterwards in a 100 gun salute.
