OpenStudy (tutorlover):

Use dimensional analysis to convert each of the following. 60 miles per hour to miles per minute

OpenStudy (austin.l):

So, do you know where to start with this? Or are ya starting completely from scratch?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

one hour equal how many minutes ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

Tutor do you know it ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

i like help you explaining step by step

OpenStudy (kg1975):

u see that aint workin :T

OpenStudy (kg1975):

Start by converting /hr to /sed Since 1 hr = 60 min, 1 min= 60 sec, 55 mi/hr X 1 hr/60 min X 1 min/60 sec. You now have miles/sec. Now, you need to convert miles into cm. The equalities you might use are: 1 mile = 5280 feet 1 foot = 12 inches 1 inch = 2.54 cm You need to set up the equalities so that the unit you want to eliminate appears in the demoninator and the unit you want to retain is in the numerator. So, continuing from above, 55 mi/hr X 1 hr/60 min X 1 min/60 sec X 5280 ft/mi X 12 in/ft X 2.54 cm/in Multiply all of those together and check that you end up with the correct units for your answer, and you're done.

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

why so much details you need give the answer in miles per minutes

OpenStudy (kg1975):

who cares about the detail! it helps the person with the answer!

OpenStudy (kg1975):

@brainzonly

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I see "miles" throughout. So, if you've copied the problem down correctly, you have nothing to convert here. On the other hand, you're supposed to convert from "hour" to "minutes." The correct conversion relationship is 60 minutes = 1 hour. Please refer to kg1975's comments, above.

OpenStudy (kg1975):

Thank You!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

kg1975: that comment wasn't called for, and you should not be taunting another user.

OpenStudy (kg1975):

i dont try to :T he keeps telling me im wrong when everyone else agrees with me tell that to him and some people listen to him and get there answers WRONG. Nobody listens to me because o im so dumb!

OpenStudy (kg1975):

which im not!!!
