what did i do wrong

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

?

OpenStudy (reid19):

number 2

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

\(y=2+\sqrt{5+7x}\) Solve for \(x\) Subtract \(2\) from both sides Square both sides Subtract \(5\) from both sides Divide both sides by \(7\) Now switch the \(x\) and \(y\).

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Reid19: a related, but slightly different approach, would be as follows: Starting with f(x)=y=2+Sqrt (5+7x), 1. Drop the f(x) label, 2. Interchange x and y: x=2+Sqrt(5+7y) 3. Solve for y 4. Replace that y with \[f ^{-1}(x)\]

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Can you work through the steps of solving x=2+Sqrt(5+7y) for y? If so, please share your work here.
