Why does the author write “struck off” instead of “walked off”?

I think it's to say a more intense type of action. It could mean whoever was "walking" off was mad so that's probably why the author said struck off. Because if you think about it, "struck off" gives more of an idea of how the character was probably feeling, which maybe is "mad." "Walked off" just sounds bland and it doesn't give an idea. So that's what I think.
