OpenStudy (kendellfawn):

A globe is 41.137 feet in diameter. Find its exact circumference (distance around) and then approximate its circumference using 3.14 for pi.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Hello.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Do you know how exact circumference is measured?

OpenStudy (kendellfawn):

I know that C= pi * diameter. But I don't think that's the equation i need.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Since pi is a endless decimal, you may put the diameter and pi together to make the exact circumference, keeping the value of pi when stating it as "pi" and not 3.14

OpenStudy (kendellfawn):

See but when I put inn 129.2356.... It tells me my answer is wrong?

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Because you do not put in that as the answer.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

You must state pi as the word form, I believe, where the diameter * pi, but you state it only as pi, not the numerical value.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

3.14 is not exactly pi

OpenStudy (kendellfawn):

I used the symbol for pi when multiplying.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

That's not what I mean. You are not supposed to actually multiply the diameter by the numerical value of pi.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

You shall state the diameter with pi beside it; try it with 41.137pi. Maybe you just needed a visual representation of what I was trying to say.

OpenStudy (kendellfawn):

Awesome, Thanks.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Did it work?

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Also, you surely know how to do the circumference correct? This is where you actually use the numerical value of pi.

OpenStudy (kendellfawn):

Yes, now its asking me the approximate value.

OpenStudy (kendellfawn):

And that is where I would put my 129....?

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Is there a decimal limitation? Yes, correct.

OpenStudy (kendellfawn):

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Integer- round to 129. Decimal- to two places: 129.24

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

This may have more than 1 correct answer.

OpenStudy (kendellfawn):

I hate the sound of that. Lmao.

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Well, it's not always a terrible thing, it may work in your favor. You may try the integer form, or the two decimal places form; they should both be correct in a sense of what the question stated.

OpenStudy (kendellfawn):

Well the integer form did not work, however the decimal one did. Thankyou again. :)

OpenStudy (vuriffy):

Of course, anytime. Have a great day/night!

OpenStudy (kendellfawn):

You as well.!
