OpenStudy (batspy):

A group of scientists have obtained some experimental results. How would the group best find out whether their study is worth more time and resources? by presenting the results in a poster session by submitting results to a librarian for background research by asking another researcher to redo the experiments by requesting advice on science Internet sites

OpenStudy (osprey):

HMMMM, I'm going to guess here ... Doesn't it depend on who the group of scientists are/were ? If they were schoolchildren doing a course experiment, then they'd presumably submit the results to "sir" for marking, likewise with undergraduates. If by "ask a librarian" is meant "do a literature search", then I think that that's fairly standard in university theses. After all, if you're going to claim that the experiments are "novel", then presumably there won't be any experiments like it "in the literature". A poster session at a conference is a way of advertising, and gleaning opinions from, presumably, "peers", as in "peer review". http://perendis.webs.com
