OpenStudy (peace420):

Which sentence is the one most likely taken from an explanatory text about taking a trip by plane? There are many things to think about as you plan a trip by airplane. Travelers will be asked to take off their shoes when they pass through the security line. Bags over 45" in size (length times width times depth) are considered too large to carry on. Carry on items must be able to fit under your seat or in an overhead compartment.

OpenStudy (dilla):

Not 100% sure but I would think the second one is more explanatory.

OpenStudy (deercult):

If you still need help, here's a quick breakdown: -A regular informative text simply includes facts or data, whereas -An explanatory text might include someone's views on a matter (without criticism or argument). (Paraphrased.) Which of these sentences state pure, unquestionable fact, and which state something that someone else doesn't necessarily have to agree with, such as an opinion?

OpenStudy (deercult):

Does someone always think in-depth about their plane trips, or is this the author's preference? Do they always have to take off their shoes to go through security, or is this the author's opinion on what should happen? Must bags be under that size, or is the author announcing the size of bag they prefer to bring on board? Is the size of carry on objects a rule or something the author thinks should be one?

OpenStudy (deercult):

done*

OpenStudy (peace420):

I was thinking C

OpenStudy (peace420):

what is it? @deercult

OpenStudy (deercult):

Not quite. It's a spoken rule in airports that bags have to be a specific size to be carried on, I'm pretty sure.

OpenStudy (deercult):

Say you're describing the rules of an airport to someone. Which of these statements wouldn't be necessary in terms of information?

OpenStudy (peace420):

well B or D

OpenStudy (deercult):

Still incorrect. A is the correct answer, as it is not, in itself, a rule, or specific bit of information.
