Fraction multiplication problem? I do NOT know how they got this answer. I posted the problem in the replies as an attachment.
@MissSmartiez
@AloneS @Awolflover1 @sammixboo @welshfella i dont know this one star
\[\frac{ 3 }{ 8 }\times \frac{ -10 }{ 9 }\] @563blackghost can you help i dunno if im doing this right lol
We are given... \(\huge{\frac{3}{8} \times \frac{-10}{9}}\) To multiply the two we simply multiply across so... \(\huge\color{red}{\frac{3~ \times~ -10}{8 ~\times ~9}}\)
What would that simplify to?
Were you able to get it @StarfireAndRobin? (by the way love the pic xD).
I think that that would simplify to -30/72, right? @563blackghost
(And thank you!! :D)
Correct :) So we know it equals to \(\Large{\frac{-30}{72}}\) But we need to simplify it all the way... So we find a factor that 30 and 72 share... 72:1,2,3,4,6,8,9,12,18,24,36,72 30: 1,2,3,5,6,10,15,30 What factor do they share? (Your very welcome :) )
Im sorry but I have to go :( But ill leave the explanation :) With the list set we see that they share the factor 6 so we will divide the top and bottom of the fraction by 6... \(\huge{\frac{-30 \div 6}{72 \div 6}\rightarrow \frac{-5}{12}}\) So we simplify that and find that the product of the two fractions is -5/12
Good luck with the rest of your work ;)
Thank you so much @563blackghost !!! Wonderful explanation and now I understand/remember what to do. Thank you!
