Could some explain why my answer was incorrect? :) Thank you.
Robert, John, and Marco work for a publishing company. The company wants to send two employees to a statistics conference. To be fair, the company decides that the two individuals who get to attend will have their names randomly drawn from a hat. a)Determine the sample space of the experiment. That is, list all possible simple random samples of size n equals 2 First I chose A, then chose B because it said The Simple RANDOM sample size would equal to 2. :/ but it was actually C, which I dont understand at all.
Shouldnt all the possibilities be: RM, RJ, MJ, MR, JR, and JM?
yes, you're right. those are all the possibilities. but basically writing RM and MR are the same thing. as you have to select any two people so it can either be robert or marco or marco or robert, either way those two have been chosen. same thing goes with the JM and MJ combination and JR and RJ
but for some reason, it said the correct answer was: RJ, RM, and JM D:
Which I dont get :/ because in this other similar question it has: Clarice, John, Dominique, Marco, and Roberto And when i chose the outcome of: MR, MJ MD and MC it was incorrect
i think the answer to that one would be CJ CD CM CR JD JM JR DM DR MR ?
as stated up above, order (who was picked first) does not matter for defining the sample space. If you have a different problem that you think contradicts this, please post it, and we can figure out that one.
