Use the conditional statement to answer the question. If a whole number is even, then the number is divisible by 4. Are the statement and its converse true? Both the statement and its converse are true. The statement is false, but the converse is true. Both the statement and its converse are false. The statement is true, but the converse is fals

First identify the hypothesis (p) and the conclusion (q)....You would then switch places of the hypothesis and conclusion...

How do I find those @563blackghost

563blackghost (563blackghost):

If we look at the given picture in my comment before we see an example....Now try correlating that example with the one you have.... We see in the example for conditional `angle A equals 15` is the hypothesis so that would mean in your conditional `a whole number is even` is the hypothesis..... We also see that `angle A is acute` which is the conclusion so that would mean that `then the number is divisible by 4` is the conclusion... Now to find the converse we would place the hypothesis where the conclusion is and the conclusion would be placed where the hypothesis is so out statment is now.... `If a number is divisible by 4, then the whole number is even` Would that be true or false?

OpenStudy (patrickweewoos):

true

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Correct :) Now would the conditional or statement be true or false?

OpenStudy (patrickweewoos):

false
