Evaluate the following expression using the given values: Find x − 3y if x = 3 and y = −2. −9 −3 3 9

OpenStudy (will.h):

What u think

OpenStudy (eiliasmctalun):

I am unsure. I would like to learn though

OpenStudy (eiliasmctalun):

How do I find it?

OpenStudy (will.h):

Substitute x= 3 and y= -2 3 - 3(-2) And now simplify the multiplying part which is the right side Forget about the 3 on the left for a while and let's focus on -3(-2) Multiply -3 * -2 that would equal to 6 Why? Because negative * negative is positive and 3 * 2 is 6 Now get that in the original expression instead of the -3(-2) We would get 3 + 6 What would that be equal to

OpenStudy (eiliasmctalun):

Would that be Positive 9?

OpenStudy (will.h):

Yaay you're right

OpenStudy (eiliasmctalun):

Thank you so much! I really needed help with explaining it. thank you(:

OpenStudy (will.h):

You welcome :)
