OpenStudy (belban):

If (see image) then ƒ(2) = 1/3 1 7 http://prntscr.com/cmrbwb

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You are given that \(f(x)=3x+1\). If you want to find \(f(2)\), then plug in \(2\) for \(x\).

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

For example, if I wanted to find \(f(3)\), then this is what I would do. \(f(\color{red}{3})=3\cdot\color{red}{3}+1=9+1=10\)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\(f(2)\) goes the same way, except that you plug in not 3, as I did in my example, but 2.

OpenStudy (belban):

thank you

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You welcome!

OpenStudy (belban):

@SolomonZelman what do i do if it is in his type of case, ƒ -1(7) do just multiply the answer by -1 or...

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Well \(f^{-1}(x)\) is just an inverse function of \(f(x)\).

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You don't need to know that part at all for this question.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

If you were able to find \(f(2)\) (like I did \(f(3)\) in my example), then you are done, and that is your answer.
