OpenStudy (newme1227):

How do you find a scale factor of dilation?

OpenStudy (newme1227):

@braves12 @brainzonly @Will.H

OpenStudy (michaelbp):

A dilation is a transformation (notation ) that produces an image that is the same shape as the original, but is a different size. A dilation stretches or shrinks the original figure. The description of a dilation includes the scale factor (or ratio) and the center of the dilation.

OpenStudy (newme1227):

i looked tht up but i need an easier way to figure it out

OpenStudy (will.h):

okay suppose that we have the following point A(2,4) we want to make a dilation by scale factor of 2 the rule of dilation is (kx,ky) where k is the scale factor so A'(2*2, 2*4) --> A'(4,8) make sense?

OpenStudy (will.h):

and keep in mind that in dilation the measure of the sides never remain the same it either grow or shrank

OpenStudy (newme1227):

so how would i figure this out?

OpenStudy (newme1227):

would i b 2?

OpenStudy (will.h):

what you mean b 2?

OpenStudy (newme1227):

the answer choices for the scal factor is 1, 1.25. 2, and 2.5

OpenStudy (will.h):

i know some facts here and i shall discover the others here's what i know so far i know that the dilation from AB to A'B' is growing nor shrank so that means the scale factor should be over 1 so that eliminate the option 1

OpenStudy (newme1227):

nvm i figured it out thank you!!

OpenStudy (newme1227):

it was 2

OpenStudy (will.h):

enlighten me how did you know

OpenStudy (will.h):

and i suspected to be either 2 or 2.5

OpenStudy (newme1227):

honestly idk how i got it
