@563blackghost

OpenStudy (weaver):

simplify -3/8+(1+2/2)^2

OpenStudy (weaver):

first part I got5/4 right?

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Sooo \(\huge{-\frac{3}{8}+(\frac{1+2}{2})^{2}}\) Thats how it looks?

OpenStudy (weaver):

so it ends up 3/8+5/4? yes

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Not quite...First we need to add 1 and 2 together to get `3/2`. Next we would square that fraction... \(\huge{\frac{3^{2}}{2^{2}}=?}\)

OpenStudy (weaver):

or i add 2+1 =3 multiplied by 3 is 9 and 2 times 2 is 4

OpenStudy (weaver):

9/4

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Nice! So we now have.... \(\huge{-\frac{3}{8}+\frac{9}{4}}\)

OpenStudy (weaver):

so its -3/8 +9/4

OpenStudy (weaver):

15/8

563blackghost (563blackghost):

:P Was typing out an explanation \(\Huge{\checkmark}\)

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Nicely Done!

OpenStudy (weaver):

thank you

563blackghost (563blackghost):

np :)
