@Zhana_gibson here is your question
"Graph the linear equation. Find three points that solve the equation, then plot on the graph.
x ‒ 4y = -18
OpenStudy (mathmale):
Can you graph a linear equation? In your shoes I'd find the x- and y-intercepts and graph them.

OpenStudy (zhana_gibson):
not really that's why i need help
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
yeah try to show us what you would do

OpenStudy (greatlife44):
Well, you can't do much with the form you currently have you need to turn it into
y = m(x)+b
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
first solve for y
OpenStudy (zhana_gibson):
i really don't know how to do any of that stuff can you break it down to me
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
x-4y = -18
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
so first step is to get y by itself. we need to subtract x from both sides.
-4y = -18-x
follow?

OpenStudy (zhana_gibson):
yes
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
alright now what else do we need to do?
OpenStudy (zhana_gibson):
add 18??
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
divide both sides by -4
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
\[\frac{ 18 }{ 4 }+\frac{ x }{ 4 } = y \]

OpenStudy (zhana_gibson):
oh ok
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
so now plug in x = 0 to find the value of y
OpenStudy (zhana_gibson):
ok
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
what do you get for y ?
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
i won't go any further because you need to be able to find the points yourself

working it out now
OpenStudy (mathmale):
List the x- and y-intercepts in the form (x,y).
OpenStudy (zhana_gibson):
no i really do need your help
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
yeah so we have a straight line something like this:
|dw:1475031466397:dw|
OpenStudy (mathmale):
What does x-intercept mean to you?

ok x-axis ??
OpenStudy (mathmale):
More than that. Think again. What does "intercept" mean? What does "x-intercept" mean?
OpenStudy (zhana_gibson):
idk
OpenStudy (zhana_gibson):
???
OpenStudy (greatlife44):
try

the graph touches the Y axis and the X axis
OpenStudy (mathmale):
The x-intercept is the point at which the graph crosses the x-axis. At such a point the y-value is zero. So, in the original equation, let y=0. What's left of the equation? Solve it for x. Show ALL work, please.
OpenStudy (zhana_gibson):
ok
OpenStudy (mathmale):
The equation is x - 4y = -18.
Let y=0. What's left of the equation?
OpenStudy (mathmale):
If you want help, you're going to have to respond faster...a lot faster.
