I really NEED help!! Please someone!
with what?
Dr. Burns is interested in understanding psychological factors that affect pain perception and the suffering that often accompanies pain perception. She wonders if thinking about pleasant memories might decrease reported pain perception and frontal lobe brain activity that is often associated with distress. As each person participates in her first study, she will ask half of them to recall a very pleasant and happy memory and to focus on it in detail, and she will not ask the other half to recall anything. Dr. Burns will poke all of her participants with a needle to induce pain while each participant receives an fMRI and rates their pain perception. They will rate their pain perception by reporting their current pain level on a questionnaire that ranges in scores from 0 to 50. 1. What would be the independent variables (IV) in Dr. Burns’ study? (Hint: There is one IV). 2. What is the operational definition of the IV? (in other words, how is the IV being manipulated?) What would be the dependent variables (DVs) in Dr. Burns’ study? (Hint: There are two DVs in this study). 3. DV: 4. DV: What are the operational definitions of the DVs? In other words, how is each DV being measured? (Hint: remember to define both!). 5. Operational definition of DV: 6. Operational definition of DV: 7. Given what you know about pain perception, what would be the hypothesis for Dr. Burns’ study? (Hint: be sure to describe what you would expect to happen for all the different variables you described above).
I need some help figuring this psychology out! nobody responds on the psychology section.
the independent and dependent variable always confuse me
The independent is what changes and the dependent is sort of like the affect of th IV
