OpenStudy (angelax0):

The area of a rectangle is 35 m^2 , and the length of the rectangle is 3 m more than twice the width. Find the dimensions of the rectangle.

OpenStudy (mhchen):

area = length * width length = 3 more than twice the width width = width If we substitute length in our formula, it becomes: area = (3 more than twice the width) * width which can be rewritten as: 35 = (3+2w)(3) And solve for w to get width. You know how to do that right? Once you have the width, the length is "2 more than twice the width" which is the same as (width*2) + 3 Got it? :D
