jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

for the first question, you can plug in 168 for d then solve for t (and use the positive answer, since you can't have negative time)

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

plug 168 for d? d = 16t^2

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yup :) so 168 = 16t^2 solve for t

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

im not sure.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

well you would divide both sides by 16 first

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

so... 168 / 16 & 16 / 16 ?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

yes so you get 168/16 = t^2 because 16/16 = 1 and 1*t^2 = t^2

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

168/16=10.5 16/16=1

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

that's right so t^2 = 10.5 then we need to squareroot both sides

OpenStudy (phi):

the other way round t*t = 10.5 t^2 = 10.5 "take the square root" of both sides

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

so 10.5 is not my final answer?

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

I still need help with the other questions too

OpenStudy (phi):

10.5 is not the answer t*t is 10.5 you want just t you should do \[ \sqrt{t^2} = \sqrt{10.5} \\ t= 3.24037\] which you can round to about 3.2 seconds

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

ohhh
